Unfortunately, none of the .html files contain any text.
Try looking for an older Sigil-xxxx folder. Sigil_User_Guide_RU.epub contains only zeros and can definitely not be repaired. You might want to run an antivirus program and also check your hard drive for serious errors with CrystalDiskInfo. Last edited by Doitsu; 02-11-2023 at 02:04 PM. |

Or just to be safe zip up all of the TEMP folder to grab everything of interest.
Then search the zip in case there are a couple things you can piece together from earlier versions. |

The fact that the second epub had the proper file structure but all files were full of NULL 00 bytes may indicate your ssd/harddisk is corrupted. If you have the equivalent of fdisk (like on linux) or DiskUtility (like on macOS), it can at least check and fix missing sectors/data on the disk.
That might be worth a shot as well. And once the disk is repaired try looking in Temp again. |

Also inside your %TMP% look for any file name that ends with the string "-tmp.epub" as that is the epub that Sigil creates before copying that file on top of the save location.
Again, this assume your power failure happened right during a Sigil file save operation. If not, it will not exist. |

*-tmp.epub - no such files found.
Properties > Tools > Error Checking > Check There are no errors. Many thanks to everyone. Especially BeckyEbook, the person managed to recover yesterday's copy of a file from a temporary folder. |

Yes. For February 10th.
Some of the work has unfortunately been lost. Well that's not all. Until I stop. I will come to myself. |

Glad to hear it!
Might want to make a Sigil Checkpoint of your epub from time to time (to create a git backup you can recover with) or just start using Sigil's File Save As under a new file name with an incremented version as part of the name (or maybe a date) to be safer if the power goes up and down often. And Thank You BeckyEbook for your help guide for lost files for Windows users! We should probably make something similar for Linux and macOS. FYI the next release will move Sigil's working space out of temp and into a folder in the user's Sigil Prefs folder by default to prevent loss from the OS when it cleans its own temp folder. So these directions will need to be updated then. Last edited by KevinH; 02-11-2023 at 03:02 PM. |

Or just Sigil Preferences to set a new tmp folder for Sigil. No environment variable needed anymore.

Hello.
I still can't understand why programmers use the words "Remove" and "Delete" in the same context. For example: Remove Formatting: Delete tags within selected text. Delete Unused Media Files: Remove unlinked image... Delete Unused Stylesheet Selectors: Remove unreferenced selectors... They are different words and have different meanings. Or are they considered synonyms? Does anyone take this into account when translating or do it close to the text? |
